Why it helps
Understand the circuit before testing your prediction.
Testing makes more sense when you can see the circuit you are measuring. WireMate helps students practise probe placement, voltage checks and circuit behaviour inside a visual simulator.
Skills
Testing and measurement skills
Voltage across a load
Place the virtual voltmeter across the two points being compared, rather than inserting it in series.
Current in a branch
Insert the simulated ammeter in the selected path and compare branch current with the supply total.
Dead resistance
Switch off the simulated supply and use the ohmmeter to distinguish resistance from an open path.
Series voltage drops
Compare each load's drop with the supply voltage and explain why the drops add along one loop.
Parallel currents
Predict the separate branch currents and compare their sum with the total current.
Units and ranges
Check whether the instrument reports volts, amperes, ohms or megohms before interpreting a number.
IR testing in Pro
Use the dedicated virtual insulation-resistance tester; an ohmmeter reading is not an IR test.
Repeatable evidence
Keep the same test points and settings when comparing a result before and after a simulated repair.
Worked simulation example
One circuit, three different measurements
Use the Pro DC series circuit example with its 48 V supply and 20 Ω + 30 Ω loads. Keep the initial settings unchanged while comparing your ideal calculation with the meters.
1. Voltage
With the simulated circuit operating, measure across the 20 Ω load. The ideal prediction is 0.96 A × 20 Ω = 19.2 V.
2. Current
With power off, insert the ammeter in the series path. Run the simulation again: the ideal current is 48 V ÷ 50 Ω = 0.96 A.
3. Resistance
Switch off the simulated supply and separate the resistor path from it. A dead test across the two series loads should correspond to 50 Ω before lead or cable resistance.
What to look for: The quantity being measured determines the instrument connection and whether the simulation should be powered. Record the units along with the reading.
These are ideal DC calculations. Connected parallel paths, cable resistance and changed settings alter results. Virtual preparation steps do not make real equipment safe to test.

The measurement examples show real WireMate circuit views, helping apprentices connect meter readings to the wiring path they are inspecting.

Quick answers
Common questions
Can I practise electrical testing in WireMate?
WireMate includes educational testing and measurement examples such as voltage checks and probe placement practice.
Is this live electrical testing?
No. WireMate is an educational low-voltage simulator. It is for learning and revision only.
Who is measurement practice for?
It is made for apprentices and electrical students who want more visual repetition with testing logic.
